Holding the Ropes in Prayer - 2022.12.13

Hello from Macau. Last week the government rescinded most all COVID-19 based policies. This 180 degree turn left some (many) people feeling anxious and afraid. Perhaps you have seen news about the change and potential negative effects. Since the change, the number of COVID-19 positive cases have doubled daily in Macau. Please pray for Macau/China as these next weeks to months hold potential for great hardship. May the Lord have mercy on us all.

As you pray, please lift up these three concerns as well:

  1. A dear friend is having surgery today to remove a mass from her back. Her husband is still recovering from chemotherapy and of course there is concern. May she be healed completely, being filled with peace through it all.

  2. Larry had coffee this past Saturday with a man he had recently met. This man said that he used to believe but now he doesn’t. May the love of Jesus shine through us so that the light of Jesus can guide this man into faith.

  3. Thank you for praying about the sharing at Macau Baptist Secondary School. May the words shared find their way into receptive hearts.

In the Advent season, this is Joy week. “Joy is not just about being happy. Joy is a rigorous spiritual practice of saying yes to life on life’s terms.” (Mark Matousek in Living Well Through Advent) Life’s terms are not always easy. In the difficulties of life we can still say yes to LIFE because of our life in Jesus Christ. May you know joy overflowing this week as we anticipate with joy our celebration of the Light of the World.

Maranatha!
